Private wildlife experiences
To make your self-catering stay extra special you can add on a luxury wildlife experience for your party depending on the season you visit. Choose between;
Private Reserve Tour: Available May - September, subject to availability.
As the visitors depart for the evening, you will have the Slimbridge reserve to yourselves. Enjoy a private tour with a member of our expert team who will take you to experience the wildlife highlights on offer. Make use of our professional guide to improve your birding skills, help with identification or simply relax and enjoy the beautiful landscape of the Severn estuary.
Please note that if the weather is fine and dry then the tour will take place in a purpose built trailer towed by our Landrover. If it is wet - or has been wet in the few days preceding the event - then the safari will take place on foot.
Tours are £200 for up to 6 people. Please contact us in advance of your stay to check the dates.
Wild Winter Walk: Available December - February, Monday-Thursday only.
Experience the wild winter spectacle that is Slimbridge with the help of one of our amazing volunteer Guides in the Hides. Watch as thousands of wintering birds wheel over the wetlands, including Golden Plover, Lapwing, Wigeon and Teal. Look out for our White-fronted Geese and birds of prey on the hunt, and then head back to the comfort of our Peng Observatory for an exclusive chance to see our Reserve Wardens head out on to the Rushy to feed the visiting Bewick's Swans and hear more about our work to conserve them. £90 per group.
